John Sharp, Former Texas Comptroller

Texas Monthly Talks ran from 2003-2010. You could always expect a lively dialogue about politics, the arts, sports, the media, and more with some of the biggest names in Texas and the U.S., hosted by Evan Smith, who was back then the editor of TEXAS MONTHLY magazine. Currently, he hosts the Austin PBS talk show Overheard with Evan Smith (check your local listings).

Democrat John Sharp was elected to the Texas House, Senate and Railroad Commission before serving as Comptroller for eight years. He left that office to run for Lieutenant Governor, losing in 1998 and again in 2002. Sharp recently announced his next statewide race, this time for Kay Bailey Hutchison's Senate seat.
