You could always expect a lively dialogue about politics, the arts, sports, the media, and more with some of the biggest names in Texas and the U.S., hosted by Evan Smith, who was back then the editor of TEXAS MONTHLY magazine. Currently, he hosts the Austin PBS talk show Overheard with Evan Smith (check your local listings).

Oscar-winning actor Billy Bob Thornton worked an eclectic mix of jobs as a painter, saw mill worker, grocery store clerk and a member of a ZZ Top tribute band before moving to Los Angeles in 1984 to make a career as an actor. He won huge acclaim and an Academy Award for Sling Blade in 1996 and has followed that with a number of memorable roles and a career as a musician.
