Abraham Verghese, a physician, expert on medical ethics and widely-acclaimed writer. Verghese's first book, the memoir, My Own Country, chronicled his work with AIDS patients in small-town Tennessee. His current book, the novel Cutting for Stone, spans generations and geography to tell the story of twin brothers who are born to a bun in Ethiopia and grow up toe become physicians.
