You could always expect a lively dialogue about politics, the arts, sports, the media, and more with some of the biggest names in Texas and the U.S., hosted by Evan Smith, who was back then the editor of TEXAS MONTHLY magazine. Currently, he hosts the Austin PBS talk show Overheard with Evan Smith (check your local listings).

Jerry Patterson doesn't shy away from controversy, and doesn't toe any party's line. He's made pet issues of gun rights, property rights and abolishment of motorcycle helmet laws, but has also embraced wind power and new nursing homes for Texas veterans. Some say his brand of politics will push him out of office. Others believe it could carry him higher perhaps to Lieutenant Governor in 2010.
