Nate Byford
Nathan (Nate) Byford joins Rocky Mountain Public Media as Senior Vice President of People and Change in January 2026, reporting to CEO Amanda Mountain. In this role, Nate leads the organization’s people strategy with a focus on engagement, organizational effectiveness, and thoughtful change that supports RMPM’s public mission.
Nate brings more than 17 years of leadership experience across human resources, organizational development, and employment law. His work centers on building strong, values-driven cultures while ensuring operational rigor, compliance, and trust. He is known for partnering closely with executive leadership and teams to navigate growth, align strategy with people practices, and guide organizations through complex change.
Prior to joining RMPM, Nate served as Vice President of People Operations at Zuri Group, where he led human resources, organizational development, compliance, legal, and contracts for a national nonprofit consulting firm. He has also held senior people leadership roles in higher education, including the University of Colorado, and brings additional experience from Employers Council, OpenWorld Learning, and Goal Academy. Earlier in his career, Nate founded and led Hyperion Strategies, an organizational effectiveness consultancy supporting mission-driven organizations.
He holds a BS in Business Administration from the University of Northern Colorado and a JD from the University of Denver.
Outside of work, Nate enjoys spending time with his family, staying active, and being involved in the lively Denver community. He is an avid sports fan (Broncos, Michigan, Nuggets), enjoys cooking and grilling, coaching youth sports, and will periodically binge 80’s movies (especially of the horror genre feels). Nate lives in south Denver with his wife Susan, 2/3rds of his kiddos, and a dog named Bronx.
