RMPBS KIDS Connect: Do You Ever Pause To Enjoy the ‘Awe’?
Delight in the natural wonders of America with ‘Wowsabout!’
This half-hour special set in Sequoia National Park premiered on Friday! Roxy, an artistic and musical hedgehog, and Ronald, a fastidious, city-raised pig, are exploring the emotion of awe on their first camping trip together. Join this engaging live-action puppet duo as they learn to navigate friendship and discover the wonder of America’s public lands, while they meet real kids along the way.
Roxy’s free-spirited creativity and Ronald’s structured love of natural sciences set the stage for lots of humor, heartfelt moments, and of course, music. For some related activities, enjoy these fun printables that encourage children to send an awe-inspired postcard, or find their way through the Wowsabout Maze.
Cinco de Mayo Celebrated This Week
Many communities around Colorado held celebrations throughout the weekend to honor this holiday centered around heritage and history. Dancers from the In Lak’ech Denver Arts Youth Folklorico program perform at last year’s Cinco de Mayo en Westwood event in the photo above by Carly Rose of Rocky Mountain PBS.
As another way to join the celebration on Tuesday, watch this “All About the Holidays” clip as a family to learn about the significance of Cinco de Mayo for Mexican Americans. Especially with the little ones in your life, you could also try to make Rosita's Mango Salsa from Sesame Street. With older children, enjoy a retrospective from RMPBS archives of Cinco de Mayo celebrations in Denver, Pueblo and the San Luis Valley.
