Norfolk Street Choir

The Curate 757 series explores the thriving art scene in Hampton Roads. Each week, the program features an area artist. Each person works in a different medium - from painting, to sculpture and photography, to the spoken word. Each episode originally aired as a part of the parent “Curate” series, which also offers profiles of national artists.

Season 3 Episode 7 | 10m 21s | CC

The Norfolk Street Choir, founded in 2016 by Virginia Symphony Orchestra Chorus Master and Conductor, Robert Shoup, is for individuals who are or have been homeless. Several now live in transitional housing, and some juggle rehearsal times with work schedules. Each year the choir performs a free concert at Freemason Street Baptist Church in Norfolk.
