Ms. Carter is the Executive Chairman of FirstSun Capital Bancorp and Sunflower Bank, N.A. a $7 billion community and specialty bank based in Denver, CO and serving a five-state region. In addition to the boards of her own company, Ms. Carter has served on a variety of public, private and non-profit boards in a wide variety of roles including lead director, chairman of compensation, investment annominating/governance committees, in addition to serving on executive, search and special committees. Currently, Ms. Carter serves on the board of Lockton, Inc., the world’s largest privately held insurance brokerage firm and is a vice-chair of the NPR Foundation board of trustees and co-chairs its Collaborative Journalism Network task force. Previously, she served on the board of Archer Daniels Midland Company, a Fortune 50 global agribusiness in a variety of roles including Lead Director; Evergy (formerly Westar), a $5.5 bn utility serving 1.7 million customers across Kansas and Missouri, the board of the Kansas Health Foundation, a $500 million not-for-profit, including as chairman of the Investment Committee; and the Heartland chapter of the National Association of Corporate Directors.

Born in Salina, KS, Ms. Carter received a B.A. in economics from Dartmouth College and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
