Lucas Boland is a multimedia journalist at Rocky Mountain PBS. He covers the high country in his home state of Colorado.


Lucas spent three years as a photojournalist at local newspapers in Kansas, Texas and Colorado before moving to New York City in 2023. There, he worked as a freelance photo editor for Getty Images and USA TODAY and photographed news and professional sports, including NBA and NFL games.


He was born in Las Vegas, Nevada, and graduated from Rocky Mountain High School in Fort Collins before studying business administration at the University of Washington. He guided mountaineering trips in British Columbia prior to embarking on a photojournalism career in Kansas.


Lucas lives with his wife in Denver, where he can be found ski touring nearby and pretending he can solve the Nuggets’ defensive problems.
