Cathy Kuo

Cathy Kuo is a long-time telecommunications leader whose career has centered on improving the way organizations serve their customers, support their people, and communicate their purpose. She spent 15 years at WideOpenWest (WOW!) where she held roles including Chief Operating Officer, Chief Marketing Officer, and Executive Vice President of Strategy & Engagement. During her tenure, Cathy helped the company elevate its brand and communications, strengthen its customer experience platforms, and guide teams through major transitions—including integrating multiple acquisitions, divesting non-core markets, and preparing the organization for its public offering. Working directly with frontline, customer-facing, and operations teams shaped her leadership philosophy and reinforced the importance of culture, storytelling, and service.

Earlier in her career, Cathy held leadership roles at AT&T Broadband and Telecommunications, Inc. (TCI), where she focused on marketing and communications, product development, and customer engagement. Prior to joining the cable industry, she built her foundation in consumer marketing at the Quaker Oats Company and Duty-Free Shoppers Group, roles that strengthened her understanding of utilizing data-driven customer insights to create brand equity and foster customer loyalty.

 After her years in senior operating roles, Cathy founded Red Thread Consulting, through which she continued to work closely with leaders across the broadband industry and other sectors. Her advisory work included partnering with executive teams on corporate strategy and organizational health and helping leadership navigate periods of growth and change. Clients included Cable One where she served as Chief of Staff, Northwest Fiber, and Sotheby’s.

Cathy has been active in community and industry organizations, having served on the boards of Hunger Free Colorado, the American Cable Association, the Bonnie Brae Neighborhood Association, and as advisor to TRACKtech. She has also been recognized by Women in Cable Telecommunications and CableFAX for her dedication to team culture and leadership grounded in integrity and care.

A graduate of Brown University, Cathy approaches her work with humility, curiosity, and a deep respect for the people and communities she serves.
