As the clues lead back to her own family, Toni has to navigate her way between the white and black ways, the complexes of the Aboriginal art world, to find a killer who is way too close to home. Toni is facing increasing pressure from Mariah's family for justice, not police, but their own cultural justice. Because of her kinship avoidance relationship with X Man, Toni has to stay outside and watch while Nick and Samuel interview him. Later, Nick and Toni look over the car and find a piece of a painting. When Toni brings it to her mom and the painters, they seem to be hiding something.
