Opera Lafayette’s adaptation of Philidor’s The Blacksmith is staged outdoors for a live audience in front of a historic Mancos, CO blacksmith shop. This production captures the humor and immediacy of the original French opéra comique to celebrate rural themes, and invite sing-alongs with familiar folk songs like “The Old Grey Mare,” “I Ride an Old Paint,” and “Red River Valley.”
