The Old Hundred Gold Mine near Silverton is the only mine tour in the San Juan Mountains where visitors ride a train 1,600 feet into the mountain. Once an unprofitable mine, it reopened as a tour in 1992. Its success relies on stable rock, natural ventilation, and clean water, offering a glimpse into the region’s mining history and the tough reality.
