From That Small Island: The Story of the Irish

The story of the Irish is an ambitious and ground-breaking documentary series which tells the story of the Irish from the very first inhabitants to the present day, tracing the ebb and flow of people into and out of the island. Who are the Irish? Where did they come from? Where do they go? This documentary, narrated by Colin Farrell, seeks to answer those questions.

From the Famine to the Future

Season 1 Episode 104 | 49m 15s | CC

Two million Irish people emigrated in the immediate aftermath of the Famine. Of these 64% went to the US and by as early as 1850 the Irish were easily the biggest single ethnicity in the USA. We look at the huge contribution of the Irish, alongside other ethnic groups, in the building of the US and we examine the role of the Irish in the world.
