Titus Kaphar

The Curate 757 series explores the thriving art scene in Hampton Roads. Each week, the program features an area artist. Each person works in a different medium - from painting, to sculpture and photography, to the spoken word. Each episode originally aired as a part of the parent “Curate” series, which also offers profiles of national artists.

Season 4 Episode 4 | 9m 0s | CC

Titus Kaphar is an artist who seeks to dislodge history from its status as the "past" in order to unearth its contemporary relevance. His aim is to reveal something of what has been lost and to investigate the power of rewritten history. Kaphar’s most recent sculpture, created for the Forgotten Soldier exhibit, is on display at the American Revolution Museum in Yorktown.
