Race in Colorado: Justice "A Sentenced Life"

alexa corcoran

Blacks and Latinos are overrepresented in the criminal justice system nationally and in Colorado. From arrests, through incarceration and release, the system has a strong undertow of people of color: it’s easy to get caught up and difficult to escape.

This documentary follows Coloradans through their experiences with four major stages of the system: arrest, detention, release and re-integration. The film seeks to understand how these individuals got to where they are, how they can overcome their past and how the state can chart a positive course forward to increase equity and safety for every Coloradan.
