RMPBS KIDS Connect: Who Says Women Can’t Be Doctors?
Happy Women’s History Month!
These PBS KIDS book lists have lots of titles to enjoy with young children as we celebrate Women’s History Month by learning more about amazing women.
This month could also be a great time to check out SciGirls, a show for kids ages 8-12, that spotlights bright, curious, real tween girls putting science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) to work in their everyday lives. In 2024, women made up only 28.2 percent of the STEM global workforce, while in non-STEM fields women comprised 47.3 percent of the workforce, according to the World Economic Forum. With that in mind, we found these "Tips for Encouraging Girls in STEM” to be food for thought.
Math Activities To Engage Kids This Month
Solve, count, and play your way through March with fun math games on the PBS KIDS Games app with characters from shows like “Peg + Cat,” “Cyberchase,” “Odd Squad” and “Work It out Wombats!” For group or family activities with youngsters, try out the “Elinor Wonders Why” collecting and sorting game, or make a paper flower garden inspired by the “Work It Out Wombats!”
