RMPBS KIDS Connect: What do you know about Presidents Day or the Chinese Lunar New Year?

share
Which of the holidays this week peak your learning curiosity?

Exploring art, food and culture are great ways to spark curiosity. This Tuesday, discover more about the Lunar New Year as it begins! The Smithsonian features an interesting online exhibit of related artifacts to explore for 2026, which is the Year of the Fire Horse in the Chinese zodiac. With the preschoolers in your life, catch a glimpse of Curious George while he enjoys the holiday alongside his friends to learn more about the special occasion.

For children in kindergarten through grade 5, the All About the Holidays collection features short videos with fun animation about moments from this week. This Tuesday is also Mardi Gras, so families can explore the meaning of the holiday together with this video. Meanwhile, for students grades 6 through 12, you might want to have a snack on hand while you enjoy this Relish episode, which features the stories behind the decedent and buttery French King Cake, a Mardi Gras staple, versus the rich tunnel of fudge that is the American Bundt Cake. For Monday’s holiday, families can watch this video to mark the birthday of the first president of the United States, George Washington.
