RMPBS KIDS Connect: Happy (Belated) Bday, Mr. Rogers!
A Legacy of Kindness & Impact
If you visit us at the Buell Public Media Center in Denver, one of the things you’ll find is this Mister Rogers quote gracing our building: “There's no person in the whole world like you, and I like you just the way you are." Mister Fred Rogers would’ve been 98 years old this past March 20th. His broad and lasting impact includes observance of “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” Day on his birthday. This partnership effort between the University of Missouri Extension and The Hopeful Neighborhood Project encourages people to spread kindness in their neighborhood to promote wellbeing. If you want to learn more about his broadcast television legacy, take a behind the scenes production look at “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood,” which made its public television premiere in 1968. And, if you want an extra smile, watch the PBS KIDS “Won't You Be Our Neighbor?” Sing-Along with Mister Rogers, Daniel Tiger, & Donkey Hodie today.
Learning Resources for Different Ages: Math & American Revolution History
Check out these fun printable family activities for children ages 3-5 based on math concepts, like making your own cartoon flipbook with Peg + Cat or a search and color page. For students grade 3 and up, watch these clips about today as a key date in history: On March 22, 1765 the British Parliament imposed the first direct tax on the colonists with the Stamp Act. While discussing these videos, consider to what extent “taxation without representation” was a significant catalyst of the desire for American freedom.
