RMPBS KIDS Connect: How is geometry related to the Winter Olympics?

share
It’s Engineers Week!

As the Winter Olympics closes in Italy today and Engineers Week begins, learn how geometry influences movement, strategy, and winning moments in sports with this episode of "Things Explained” for grades 3-8. When it comes to Colorado, RMPBS recently reported on our Centennial State’s potential to host the Winter Olympics in the future. In this photo by Scott Hennelly, a snowboarder takes flight at an Olympics qualifying event at Copper Mountain on Friday, Dec. 19, 2025.

Other ways to explore Engineers Week include this fun Team Hamster!® Game for children in kindergarten through grade 2, or hear more about being an audio engineer. For older students, observe the engineering design process at work with NOVA: Saving Notre Dame, or understand the connections among science, engineering, and ecology by watching “Sponge City: An Ecosystem Engineering Case Study from The Future of Nature.
