My connection to the Bravo-verse

Reality TV is a favorite in my household. Love is Blind, Below Deck, The Traitors — my wife and I love it all (we also read a lot of books, I promise).

But one of our all-time favorites is a Bravo show called "Summer House." In origin, the show followed young professionals in New York City who spend the summers in a share house in the Hamptons. It's been on TV for 10 seasons, so the cast members have become minor celebrities over time. They don't really have day jobs anymore (unless you count "influencer" or "being on Summer House" as a day job).

But the main character on the show is a guy named Kyle Cooke. Lunch Break die-hards will recognize this name as my own.

I won't bore you with all the drama of the latest season, but take my word for it that Kyle, along with his ex-wife, Amanda, have been all over the tabloids this year — even The New York Times! — and not for anything good.

One of the funniest moments came last week when a paparazzo approached New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and asked him about the scandal involving the other Kyle Cooke.

The mayor replied, "brother, I don't know who that is."

That's probably for the best.
