Careless - Colorado's Childcare Struggle | Durango
RegisterScreening, Conversation, and Food
Join The Good Food Collective’s La Plata Food Equity Coalition for a community screening of Careless: Colorado’s Childcare Struggle, a powerful new Rocky Mountain PBS documentary exploring the realities families, providers, employers, and communities are facing across Colorado due to the childcare crisis.
Following the screening, we’ll gather for a facilitated community conversation about childcare, family support, and the future we’re building together here in La Plata County.
This evening is intended to be warm, welcoming, and community-centered — a space to reflect together, connect local experiences to the larger systems conversation, and learn about ways to stay informed and engaged in ongoing community efforts around childcare and family support.
Food will be provided.
Families are welcome at all of our gatherings. There is space nearby where children can step out with a caregiver if they need a break. Because the event includes a full film screening and small group conversations, we encourage parents to bring quiet activities for children so the space can remain focused and comfortable for everyone.
About the Film
Public funding has long overlooked child care for children under six. What does that mean for the future of families here? Statewide, families at all income levels report struggling to find affordable care. We examine the biggest challenges facing early childhood today, and what lawmakers and communities are doing to close the gaps.
