Above the Noise is a space for people across Colorado to come together, in person and online, to talk about what matters in their communities. We explore big questions, share lived experiences, and listen to one another. By centering local voices and engaging across differences, we help build understanding, strengthen trust, and support more inclusive civic participation. What we hear also helps shape what Rocky Mountain Public Media does next.
This initiative is part of RMPM’s broader Statewide Civic Engagement effort to strengthen trust, empathy, and participation across all 64 counties of Colorado.
Our Purpose
We believe civic engagement is about people coming together to understand one another and work toward shared solutions in their communities.

On Sunday, June 7, 2026 at 7 p.m. MT, Rocky Mountain PBS is co-presenting Women Decide: The Colorado Governor’s Forum alongside The Women’s Foundation of Colorado and the Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce. This is a free, live virtual forum bringing confirmed primary candidates for Governor of Colorado into conversation with the public, and it is open to all Coloradans.
This is a big moment. For the first time in eight years, Colorado will choose a new governor. This forum is a chance to hear directly from the candidates on the issues that matter most to women, families, and communities across our state, from economic opportunity and healthcare to housing, education, and caregiving.

What's Ahead
We’re hosting conversations, film screenings, and gatherings where people can connect and have a say in what happens in their communities and how their stories are told. Check back soon for dates and locations. Here’s a preview of what’s ahead:
This summer and fall, Above the Noise is bringing people together, in person and online, to talk about the issues that matter most.
Working with Warm Cookies of the Revolution, Above the Noise brings a little more joy and creativity to complex, heated, or even “boring” issues, making space for more people to show up, take part, and shape their communities and future.
Alongside Colorado Health Foundation, Above the Noise is hosting community conversations around the 2026 Colorado Pulse Poll to better understand the priorities and experiences shaping people’s lives.
In collaboration with the Colorado Office of Film Television and Media, Above the Noise Film Club brings RMPBS Original documentaries to local communities, creating space to experience stories about Colorado and talk with your neighbors about what they mean close to home.
2026 Midterm Elections
Colorado’s primary is June 30, 2026, and the general election follows on November 3, 2026. Your voice belongs in the conversation.
Through Above the Noise, we’re connecting Coloradans with trustworthy information about local issues, community concerns, and the stories shaping civic life across the state. But elections aren’t just about candidates and ballots; they’re about what matters most to you.
Whatever is on your mind, share what matters to you and exercise your voice! Healthcare, caregiving, housing, education, economic security, public safety, climate, transportation... What issues are impacting you or your community right now?
