Volunteers needed for 56th annual Daddy Bruce Randolph Thanksgiving food distribution

One of the largest Thanksgiving food distribution events in the country is going to look very different this year. Instead of families lining up to get everything they need to make the traditional meal, cars will be lining up instead.

The event usually distributes 5,000 meals, but this year organizers are preparing 10,000. These Thanksgiving “baskets” will feed up to 80,000 people in the Denver Metro Area.

Reverend Ron Wooding, who has been organizing the event for 18 years, says they need volunteer drivers Saturday, Nov. 21, to help get the baskets to the families who need them. “If you have a driver’s license, car insurance and a vehicle, you can be a part of this legacy,” Wooding said.

You can sign up to volunteer until Nov. 20. And if you know a family that needs a meal, you can nominate them by Nov. 19. To sign up to volunteer, nominate a family, or donate, visit: epworthfoundation.org.

Rev. Wooding is joined by Denver Mayor Hancock and former Mayor Federico Peña in asking people to help the cause.
