DENVER — Colorado's First Gentleman Marlon Reis, who had tested positive for COVID-19 along with Governor Jared Polis, was released from the hospital December 8, according to the governor's office.
“I am so thankful to the doctors, nurses, and staff and for the support and well wishes we have received from friends, neighbors, and Coloradans during this time,” Reis said in a statement. “I hold everyone who has been affected by this deadly virus in my heart. Jared and I continue to encourage our fellow Coloradans to remain vigilant, wear masks, stay six feet apart, avoid gatherings, and wash your hands regularly.”
Reis was admitted for treatment Sunday, December 6, after his COVID-19 symptoms worsened. He experienced a worsening cough and shortness of breath.
Governor Polis drove Reis to the hospital "as a precaution." The governor himself is not experiencing any additional symptoms. They traveled in a personal vehicle to and from the hospital.
Reis did not require any supplemental oxygen at the hospital, but received dexamethasone to treat inflammation and remdesivir, an antiviral drug used to treat COVID-19 (according to a trial from the World Health Organization, remdesivir has "no meaningful effect" in COVID-19 patients).
