RMPBS KIDS Connect: Exploring What ‘Community’ Means While Enjoying Some Classics

share

What does “‘Community” Mean to You?

Part of our work as Rocky Mountain PBS is strengthening the civic fabric of Colorado. For RMPBS KIDS that means no child is too young to learn how to become civically engaged! The “You, Me & Community” collection offers more ways to introduce young learners to basic civics concepts — including making their voice heard and exploring the process of voting. For children Pre-K through grade 5, enjoy subjects like geography, economics, and history in this collection, which also includes some resources available in Spanish. For grownups interested in civics like us, check out our Rocky Mountain Public Media Statewide Civic Engagement work.

Compliment this learning journey with PNC Grow Up Great’s Community Helpers learning resources too. These lessons have been co-designed by museum and educational partners and feature many of your favorite PBS KIDS friends. We’re proud to bring Be My Neighbor Day to Colorado with support of this initiative!

Taking A Stroll Down Memory Lane with PBS KIDS

These short stories from the classic show that premiered in 1983 are a treasure to share because grownups will enjoy the memories, plus the joy of children in their own lives discovering them for the first time. The Reading Rainbow theme song is bringing happiness to multiple generations now! While we’re enjoying some nostalgia, and as we experience some cold weather in Colorado this weekend, let this short “Between the Lions” clip add some cozy season cuteness to your day for you and the kindergartener in your life.
