The Institute for Science & Policy Launches New Podcast: Water Under Pressure
Today, the Institute for Science & Policy, a project of the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, releases a new podcast, “Water, Under Pressure: The Uncertain Future of Colorado’s Most Valuable Resource.” This is a five-episode series exploring the tradeoffs and difficult decisions needed to manage our water system in Colorado. Through in-depth interviews and storytelling, the series uncovers the complexities of a community that relies heavily on agriculture and the increasing value of water for myriad uses across the state.
“Investigating where our water comes from and who decides what we do with it, especially as we face explosive growth and climate change, is a compelling story,” said Kristan Uhlenbrock, director of the Institute for Science & Policy.
The series unpacks the debate over whether to pump water from the San Luis Valley and sell it to the growing Front Range. And with county coffers full of federal dollars they must spend, the pressure is even greater on communities that have water and those who need it for populations that continue to boom.
