Rocky Mountain PBS premieres season 11 of documentary series 'Colorado Experience'

DENVER — Rocky Mountain PBS is thrilled to announce the Season 11 premiere of Colorado Experience on Thursday, September 26, at 7:00 p.m. This season, viewers will embark on a journey through Colorado's unique heritage, from discovering artifacts at the once-bustling Dearfield community to exploring the reintroduction of gray wolves to the state and its environmental and social impacts.
“This season has a little bit of something for everyone; from nature, climate change, outdoor activities, food, and the deeply-rooted places that make up Colorado — all viewed through a historical lens,” stated Alexis Kikoen, "Colorado Experience" Executive Producer. “We want our audiences to feel seen and heard in our content. Each episode was carefully selected based on community listening sessions, one-on-one conversations, email feedback, and audience data and insights.”
"Colorado Experience," Rocky Mountain PBS’s flagship history series, explores the people, places, and events that have shaped Colorado’s rich heritage. Each episode aims to bring history to life, offering fresh perspectives that foster a deeper sense of connection and community among Coloradans.
Colorado Experience Season 11 episodes include:
- Uncovering Dearfield (Premieres Sept. 26) Discovering artifacts at a once-thriving, self-reliant Black farming community from the early 1900’s.
- Ute Water Legacy (Premieres Oct. 3) Learn about the historic agreement securing water rights for the Ute Indian tribes.
- Weapons to Wildlife (Premieres Oct. 10) After weapons and chemical manufacturing, nature reclaimed land at what is now the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge.
- The Ski Train (Premieres Oct. 17) We explore the history of the train connecting Denver skiers to Winter Park's mountain resort.
- Gothic's Outdoor Science Lab (Premieres Oct. 24) Explore the Rocky Mountain Biological Lab research station, focusing on ecology and biology.
- Return of the Wolf (Premieres Oct. 31 — 1-Hour Special) See the history and reintroduction of gray wolves to Colorado and the environmental and social impacts.
- Saving Hartman Castle (Premieres Nov. 7) We head to a historic private residence in Gunnison, known for its architecture and history.
- Palisade Peaches (Premieres Nov. 14) With grit and adaptability, watch Colorado's western slope become the premier peach-producing place.
