The Economy and the Environment

"Plan B: Mobilizing to Save Civilization," hosted by Matt Damon, is the 12th episode of the award-winning PBS series "Journey to Planet Earth" based on the book by environmental visionary Lester Brown.

Shot on location around the world and featuring heads of state and some of the world's most original and influential thinkers, Brown's message is clear and unflinching: Confront the realities of climate change or suffer the consequences of lost civilizations and failed states.

The program provides a glimpse into a new and emerging economy based on renewable sources of energy, as well as case studies documenting realistic strategies to avoid the growing threat of global warming.

"Plan B" also offers hopeful solutions - a road map that will help eradicate poverty, stabilize population, stabilize climate, and protect and restore the earth’s forests, soils and fisheries.

"Plan B" makes a strong case for choosing new economic and environmental priorities and developing new responses to the challenges associated with growing populations.

We wonder how this program will resonate with you. We want to know if you find the ideas viable - the theories sound.

Let us know.

And if you miss the program this Thursday, it airs again on May 15 and online anytime.
