This idea hits close to home with the closing of Denver's oldest newspaper, the Rocky Mountain News. We have lost a key player in Colorado's journalism landscape, and we are sorry to see the institution go. http://www.rmpbs.org/panorama/index.cfm/entry/421/rss http://www.rmpbs.org/panorama/index.cfm/entry/421/rss Tue, 03 Mar 09 10:12:00 -0700 400 strong at Newsmakers Luncheon! It was an unusual holiday weekend. First came the news of Sen. McCain's selection of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his Vice Presidential running mate. Then, the nation crossed its fingers as Hurricane Gustav approached the Louisiana shoreline. Finally, Sen. McCain suspended most opening-day RNC activities. Now that things are back on track, what are your hopes for the Republican convention? And what do you think of the Palin pick? http://www.rmpbs.org/panorama/index.cfm/entry/285/rss http://www.rmpbs.org/panorama/index.cfm/entry/285/rss Tue, 02 Sep 08 09:30:00 -0700 Convention week in Denver - what's your take? Last night, I fell backwards into a ticket to the opening night of the Democratic National Convention. While I didn't manage to get a seat inside the arena, I did laps around the perimeter - and came within 10 feet of former President Jimmy Carter. Two days in and two days to go, what are your impressions of convention week? What have you seen so far? And what do you think of the Biden pick? http://www.rmpbs.org/panorama/index.cfm/entry/281/rss http://www.rmpbs.org/panorama/index.cfm/entry/281/rss Tue, 26 Aug 08 09:44:00 -0700 I wonder what Charles McGrath is watching tonight? I wanted to change the subject this week. I really did. But then I saw Charles McGrath's New York Times editorial - "Is PBS Really Necessary?" - and the comment avalanche that followed on the Times' site. It's at 836 at the moment. (Three cheers for new media - I often enjoy reader comments more than the articles themselves.) http://www.rmpbs.org/panorama/index.cfm/entry/183/rss http://www.rmpbs.org/panorama/index.cfm/entry/183/rss Tue, 19 Feb 08 10:51:00 -0700 Civic pride, caucus blues & a beautiful clean slate Well, so much for objectivity. For once in my life, I'm decidedly keen on a candidate - made up my mind in the last six weeks - but I can't caucus tonight because I'm registered as an independent. The rule is that you must be registered with a party by December 5, 2007, to participate in a caucus. That's no problem for party-line voters, but for independents, it's a pickle. I can see how frustrating this would be for third party candidates and their supporters. http://www.rmpbs.org/panorama/index.cfm/entry/176/rss http://www.rmpbs.org/panorama/index.cfm/entry/176/rss Tue, 05 Feb 08 05:32:00 -0700 Ray Suarez in Denver In December 2007, Ray Suarez visited Denver for Rocky Mountain PBS' annual Newsmakers Luncheon.
