Flying C-46 transport aircraft over the "Hump" of the Himalayan Mountains, Dean Baird helped supply the war effort in China, Burma, and India. Today, at 87, he's still flying, instructing, and conducting check flights at Fremont County Airport in Canon City, Colorado.

Pete Stiponovich was a tank driver and gunner with the 13th Armored Division (The Black Cats), Co. B, 24th Tank Battalion. In 1945 the 13th Armored served in occupied France and then fought in Germany with Patton's Third Army, most notably in the Ruhr Valley.

As a young farm boy growing up in Southern Colorado's San Luis Valley and before our move to urban area of Colorado Springs, Colorado I would periodically sneak into my parent's closet and fantasize about the World War II Army uniform that hung next to my mother's wedding dress.

Mr. Terrell grew up in a small town in Western Colorado during the Great Depression that began with the stock market crash of 1929. The economy did not recover until the start of World War II. He enlisted in the US Army Air Corps on July 7, 1943 and served as a crew member on a medium bomber during the war.
