It's pretty darn cool that Rocky Mountain PBS provides my paycheck during the day and my entertainment at night. Nine times out of 10, what I watch when I come home from work is public television. And 9 times out of 10, I learn something.
This week, we're jam-packed full of arts & entertainment programs and documentaries I'm eager to learn from. Tonight at 9 p.m., we head to Rio de Janeiro to experience "
Inside: Rio Carnaval." It should be a fascinating ride, a window into a culture and form of musical expression I don't know enough about.
Tomorrow night at 7, "
Great Performances: Harlem in Montmartre" takes a closer look at an often neglected era in African American history: the jazz scene in Paris between World War I and II.
Immediately following at 8:30 p.m., I'm excited to find out more about the
construction of the Denver Art Museum, an architectural marvel I admire more and more every time I pass it by.
I'm especially counting down the minutes until the season two premiere of "
Masterpiece Mystery! Inspector Lewis," Sunday night at 9. Murder, mayhem and a great big tub of popcorn await!
Additional video previews and episode descriptions are here. And check out this fun
YouTube clip about host Alan Cummings.
What did you all think of the first season? I thought Kevin Whately was tremendous. Also curious to hear which "Masterpiece" series you've liked most this year and why....
