What Hath God Wrought – The Transformation of America, 1815-1848 (Oxford University Press)
, gave a presentation at The Colorado Historical Society on March 12.

Howe discussed how the revolutionary improvements in transportation and communications accelerated the extension of the American empire. He also explored the role of religion in this formative period and argued that advocates of public education, economic integration and the rights of Native Americans, women and African Americans were the true prophets of America's future.
The words of the book's title are what Samuel F.B. Morse tapped out on his new telegraph device in 1844, ushering in instant long-distance communication.
Sponsored by the Colorado Center for Literature and Art/Colorado Yale Association.
