This program cannot be a serious effort to assess media coverage of 2008: look at the guests you invited ! What do you expect them to SAY?
If the rest of us did our jobs the way the media does theirs? We would not HAVE jobs !
Do you really expect them to raise the Shorenstein Center study? Or the wide gap between what voters need and what voters get.
Look, if for some reason you asked but simply could not recruit media CRITICS to a program like this, then at least read this web page to begin to size this communication gap that our media has created: http://www.askobamanow.com/about_this.htm
Ignore all the Obama mentions -- just look at the analysis of why and how our media is such a dysfunctional fiasco.

Ron, Thanks for the info. The program you're describing is one type of discussion. We're having a different type, drawing on the experience of four people working in the field. There are so many possibilities for programs... and of course so little time. Glad you're sharing yours with other viewers/web visitors here.

Political coverage is so left it is almost out of sight. You folks have decided you want Obama and nothing is going to stand in your way, including the truth. I am sorry that 'public' broadcasting has come to this. I expected more from you. Incidentally, Sarah does not get to keep the clothes that the RNC buys for her. They have to be returned to them - but, of course, I didn't hear that mentioned.

Since the early 1900's, when America came within 400,000 votes electing a communist, the media has been grossly biased.
"Equal broadcast time for each candidate"? I think not, it never has been. The media is a money making industry, they follow what is in demand by the public in order to increase market shares, its that simple.
So few people care of "Truth", of "Justice", of "Integrity", they just want something to distract them from their own self induced misery, to be entertained.
I took 4 years of journalism in highschool and fully intended to pursue a career in the industry until a veteran reporter explained the "facts" to me. Truth does not sell, it cannot be gossiped about at work, it is not juicy or memorable, fiction sells like hot cakes however, just watch the evening news.
