In September 1929 and as a farm boy, I saw field beans fall from $13.00 to $7.00 per 100 lbs., overnight. The USA went "crazy" in many ways. The farm provided a living during a real depression.
President Hoover tried and failed, In @ 1932 President F. D. Roosevelt closed the banks, spent "jillions" on wonderful and much needed public works projects we still enjoy, as Red Rocks. That employed millions of men . We used script for money, but it all failed to change out depression..
It was not until War developed in Europe that our factories began to hum as they produced "war materials" for the "killing fields of Europe." We were on the road to recovery and there was a "chicken in every pot."
