"American Experience" executive producer Mark Samels was in Denver on October 14 for an advanced screening of "The Civilian Conservation Corps" at the University of Denver. Mark joined a panel discussion following the film to discuss the implications and impact of the CCC on the country – and his goals with the series.
The event, attended by around 200 people, was sponsored by Rocky Mountain PBS in collaboration with the University of Denver's History Department and History Colorado. Joining Mark on the panel was Al Coven, a CCC alumnus, and Susan Schulten, professor of U.S. History at the University of Denver. The discussion was moderated by State Historian Bill Convery.
Earlier in the day, Mark sat down with RMPBS executive producer Cynthia Hessin for a great discussion about the film. Find it here.
