The theme of this year's Rocky Mountain PBS KIDS Fun Fest was "healthy kids, healthy planet." The event was a huge success due in large part to all the volunteers that helped before, during and after the station's largest outreach event of the year. Families enjoyed activities provided by the National Parks, Pony Express, conservation groups, Super School News and much more. The Denver police estimated that there were 5-6,000 people in attendance.
Squeals of delight could be heard across the station as PBS characters WordGirl, Clifford, Princess Presto and the Big Green Rabbit made their way through the crowd. The live four-hour stage show was a hit with both young and young at heart. Mr. Steve, the Big Green Rabbit, Science Matters, the Colorado Ballet, and a Wild West demonstration kept the crowd jumping, singing, dancing and laughing!
A special thanks to our auto sponsor, Subaru, and to Shelby Carter, who devoted several months of hard work, close quarters and brand new ideas to make KIDS Fun Fest the best family outreach event in Colorado!
