Rocky Mountain PBS just hosted an exciting Fall Orientation for our 30th Season of Super School News. More than 26 schools – each represented by two students and one teacher – came to our Denver studios for the event. Pueblo and Grand Junction had orientations the same day with schools from the Southern and Western Slope area.
Information was shared on newscast formats and guidelines, and local professional news anchor Kim Christiansen of 9NEWS was the keynote speaker in Denver. Judging from the excitement in the air, this season is going to be fabulous!
For 30 years, Rocky Mountain PBS production staff and volunteers have been working closely with schools to help 5th and 6th graders prepare entertaining and informative news pieces about their schools. Selection of the student news teams is done by participating schools.
Newscasts from this season will begin airing in early November, with each school having several showings for a one-week period on Rocky Mountain PBS.
