"Manzanar: 'Never Again' " (14:14), one of five mini-documentaries in Ken Burns' "Untold Stories from America's National Parks" series, looks at the interconnected stories of Japanese internment during World War II, Sue Kunitomi Embrey's efforts to commemorate the Manzanar internment camp and the ongoing work of Manzanar National Historic Site to educate visitors about civil rights.
At the heart of the film are the words of Sue Embrey, who speaks movingly about protecting all citizens' rights, especially in times of national crisis.

Thank you for this brief reminder of the wrong done to Japanese Americans. As a 10 yr old Caucasian child, I lived and went to school in Amache, (Granada CO relcation center) It was a life altering experience. My Dad worked for the WRA. Our family moved to Amache when I was in the 6th grade. I went to school with all Japanese Americans. Even as a child, I knew how wrong it was of our government to intern citizens simply because of their race. Even though my Dad worked for the WRA, he felt what was done to the Japanese was a violation of civil rights. In April 2009 we drove to Amache. As at Manzanar, nothing is left except foundations of buildings and the cemetery. We took many pictures and I now have a group of "then" and "now" photos. This injustice must never happen again!
