The rumors are true. "The Electric Company" is back – and debuts nationwide next month! Sesame Workshop has brought back the hit show from the '70s and revamped it for today's generation of PBS KIDS. The look and feel is new – so is the cast – but the program has the same goal as the original series: teaching literacy skills. Preview the series at pbskids.org/electriccompany and don't miss our sneak peek marathon on Monday, Jan. 19, 3-4:30 p.m.

The series will air on Sundays at 11 a.m. starting February 1.

I used to teach Elementary School in Jefferson County in the late 1960's and early 1970's. My 2nd grade students always enjoyed watching ELECTRIC COMPANY. I look forward to seeing the 21st century version and will encourage my elementary school grandsons to watch it, too! I'm sure it will be a terrific program!
