Vice President of Leadership Giving - Denver

Rocky Mountain Public Media, home to Rocky Mountain PBS and KUVO Jazz radio, is the largest statewide, member-supported, multi-media network in Colorado. DESCRIPTION: The Vice President of Leadership Giving leads the planning for and realization of major gifts, grants and planned giving. Responsible for $2.5MM in annual revenue. Identifies, cultivates and secures funds from and develops a stewardship plan for long-term donor support. The position maximizes RMPBS’ planned giving effort and takes a leading role in the capital campaign efforts of the organization in collaboration with senior leadership.

TYPICAL DUTIES:  Serves as the head of the Leadership Giving team. Strategizes and implements the network's major, foundation and planned gifts.  Develops and implements strategies to cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of major/planned gift donors. This includes personal visits, written communication for gift acknowledgments and renewals, personal notes, electronic correspondence and phone calls. Leads RMPBS’ planned giving efforts for long-term sustainability. Participates in the planning and execution of capital campaigns. Leads the planning and implementation of all special projects and events as they relate to major and planned giving. Works closely with executive management in all areas of major, planned and capital giving. Manages community and family foundation cultivation and solicitation. Oversees the research and compilation of major/planned gift information for print, web and broadcast materials. Develops and projects major/planned gift goals and income for each fiscal year. Creates and manages departmental budgets. Works in collaboration with the Board of Directors on fundraising tactics and strategies. Tracks and reports activities and manages the consistent use of the organization’s database. Other duties, as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS OF POSITION:  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Minimum of five years’ fundraising experience; comparable corporate experience will be considered. Proven record of success in the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewarding of major gifts from individuals, corporations and foundations. Demonstrated expertise in fundraising, moves management and both major gifts and planned giving. Experience in a large-scale capital campaign. Experience fundraising in the Rocky Mountain region. Proven experience in organization, time management, research and reporting. Professional demeanor when working with community leaders, the general public and volunteers, including a board of directors. Self-motivated, detail-oriented and passionate for public media. Strong written and oral communication skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS:  This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Weekend and evening hours may occasionally be required.

BIS User Support Specialist - Denver

DESCRIPTION:   The BIS User Support Specialist is a pivotal member of the Business Information Systems & Support (BISS) department.  He/She supports the company by providing excellent technical support and timely response to our system needs and end-user needs.  Evening and weekend hours may be required.

TYPICAL DUTIES:  System Support: Maintain accurate user database and credentials.  Maintain accurate log of all software and application licenses, credentials, and configurations.  Perform routine audits of system and software.  Document system configurations and standards.  Manage Office 365 and email database.  Maintain system backups and system security.  Serve as organizational liaison for Managed Services Contractor, escalating issues when needed.  Work with Managed Services Contractor to ensure agreed upon objectives are met.  Install and support printers, postage machines, phone, and conferencing equipment.  End User Support: Maintain internal ticketing system, resolve and escalate tickets when needed. Provide onsite troubleshooting and maintenance with respect to workstations and desktop applications.  Direct inquires and requests to Managed Services Contractor and follow-up as needed.  Administer remote access tools and web conferencing solutions for end users.  Install and configure workstations, hardware, software, and desktop applications.  Coordinate onsite training for end users.  Maintain internal ticketing system, resolve and escalate tickets when needed. Provide onsite troubleshooting and maintenance with respect to workstations and desktop applications.  Direct inquires and requests to Managed Services Contractor and follow-up as needed.  Administer remote access tools and web conferencing solutions for end users.  Install and configure workstations, hardware, software, and desktop applications.  Equipment and Devices Support:  Tag and maintain database of all BISS equipment and devices (e.g. pcs, laptops, peripherals, phones, printers, postage meter etc.) and their users.  Evaluate department request for new and replacement equipment and devices and make recommendations on purchasing strategies.  Review BISS fiscal performance against the budget, escalating issues to the CFO when needed.  Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.

MINIMUM/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS OF POSITION:  An associate or bachelor’s degree in computer technology, information technology, or a related field and/or 3+ years of relevant work experience in a help desk environment. Industry-standard certification in hardware repair, Microsoft systems, and application, highly desirable.  Knowledge and Skills:  Ability to provide outstanding customer service and follow-up with multiple, sometimes simultaneous, projects through completion.  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.  Demonstrated project management skills.  Demonstrated understanding and technical proficiency with Windows Server, Active Directory, Office 365, Window and MAC OS environments.  Practical knowledge of remote desktop or other remote assistance programs.  Working knowledge of SharePoint.  Attention to detail.  Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.  Team player and can collaborate with other teams in the organization.  Evening and weekend hours may be required.  Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.

Regional Director – Southern Colorado

To further this mission, Rocky Mountain Public Media seeks a full-time Regional Director-Southern Colorado.

DESCRIPTION:  Serves as the senior leader in Southern Colorado, coordinating with functional managers across Rocky Mountain Public Media (RMPM), most of whom are in Denver, to help shape and execute overall strategy for the organization. Position serves as the key point of contact for the entire Southern Colorado region in high-level community partnership discussions, oversees and helps execute a comprehensive community engagement strategy in the region, is responsible for major donor cultivation and migration, leads a high-performing team of staff and volunteers to execute the RMPM mission within the assigned territory.

TYPICAL DUTIES:  Serves as senior leader for Southern Colorado, managing community engagement and partnerships, managing development opportunities with key investors, and ensuring the organization is relevant to those we serve in the region.  Ensures compliance with the memorandum of understanding with Colorado State University – Pueblo and other community collaborators.  Works to secure strategic partnerships to support the Regional Innovation Center strategy to maximize impact within Southern Colorado and across the state. Shares best practice ideas and RIC successes within the RMPM network and ensures regional alignment with the RMPM strategic framework.  Identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards major donors and prospects including individuals, corporations, and foundations through visits and other forms of direct personal contact. Responsible for meeting the established regional annual leadership giving goal.  Makes effective use of the donor database and other internal resources to ensure appropriate management of donors, prospects, and foundations.  Manages the Southern Colorado Local Advisory Committee, a group of committed leadership volunteers charged with ensuring RMPM meets the needs of the community we serve. Inspires, leads, and recruits volunteers as needed to help execute strategy for the region.  Cultivates relationships for regional representation on the RMPM statewide Board of Directors.  Leads community engagement/impact strategies in Southern Colorado that fulfill the mission of RMPM and align with overall statewide strategic objectives.  Represents RMPM in the community, ensuring we are always presented in a way that preserves and grows the public trust in our brand.  Serves as the Southern Colorado underwriting liaison for on-air sponsorship messaging, connecting prospective clients to the assigned Development Account Executive on the statewide underwriting team.  Responsible for staff development through continued communication around job expectations including: planning, coaching, monitoring, and appraising job results using the policies and procedures established by the HR department.  Prepares and manages the Southern Colorado budget, working in tandem with the CFO and function managers network-wide to ensure integrity of process.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION:  Bachelor’s Degree or minimum of five years of experience in sales, marketing, fundraising, or business.  Demonstrated ability to lead successful collaborations and revenue campaigns.  Experience with and high level of comfort in public speaking to inspire others. Excellent communications skills, particularly when working with colleagues remotely.  Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of the communities served by RMPM in Southern Colorado.  Creativity and strong problem-solving skills.  Staff development/coaching mindset.  Understanding of how to be hyper-local and a community leader

Staff Accountant – Denver

DESCRIPTION:   Mid-level staff accountant with a bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field and/or 5+ years of relevant work experience, preferably in a non-profit environment. The staff accountant supports the CFO in carrying out the department’s responsibilities.  The position will be primarily responsible in revenue accounting, fixed asset management, maintain insurance policies, and maintain rental/service fee agreements and contracts.

The staff accountant will service as reviewer and approver of routine AR deposit batches and may server as backup approver for the CFO when appointed.

TYPICAL DUTIES:  Revenue Accounting, Work with the revenue teams (membership, development, underwriting) to ensure cash receipts are accurately coded and timely entered. Review and approves daily revenue cash receipts.  Reconcile cash receipts monthly between CRM and AIS.  Work with NETA to ensure accurate and timely financial entry.  Work with NETA and revenue teams to resolve discrepancies quickly.  Fixed Asset Management, Work intimately with Engineering team on fixed asset tracking and recording.  Maintain the fixed asset database and schedules.  Provide monthly detail to NETA for General Journal entries.  Ensure proper recording of new and retired assets.  Assist CFO in Tracking and maintaining company insurance policies (except Employee Benefits, which are maintained by HR).  Prepare and track insurance policies and schedules.  Prepare annual insurance applications and renewals.  Work with NETA to ensure accurate and timely financial entry.  Assist the CFO with facility rental and service fee agreement and contract management.  Track and maintain rental services and fees agreements and contracts.  Work with NETA to ensure accurate and timely billing and collection. Perform such other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as may be required from time to time by the CFO.

QUALIFICATIONS:  A bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field and/or 5+ years of relevant work experience, preferably in a non-profit environment.  Knowledge and Skills: Relevant course work Advance knowledge of Excel General knowledge of FASB and GAAP, NFP experience a plus. Attention to detail. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Team player and can collaborate with other teams in the organization. Occasional weekend and after work hours may be required.

On-Air Host (Fill-In) KUVO Jazz- Denver

DESCRIPTION:   The On-Air Host plays an integral role in providing support to KUVO Jazz radio. The On-Air Host will represent KUVO Jazz as a fill-in on-air host providing distinctive music, news, and informational programming reflecting the values and cultural diversity of our listener community.

TYPICAL DUTIES:  Serves as an on-air fill-in host. Hours range from 2 to 4 hours per shift, must be available Monday-Friday during prime-time shifts (6a-8p), and additional shifts as required. Select music and keep website playlist up to date. Prepare for and be an effective pledge rapper during on-air pledge drives. Schedule and promote information segments in the show. Conduct interviews. Voice over for production. Conduct ticket giveaways. Conduct EAS test as required. Interact with the public via phone, and personal appearances. Record promos for the show. Other duties, as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Articulate and able to communicate with a strong on-air presence. Outstanding speaking and oratory ability. Organized, and detail oriented individual. Professional demeanor, friendly, personable, great sense of humor, and excellent customer service skills. Ability to think and work independently.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Knowledge of public broadcasting and non-profit organizations is a plus. Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusiveness. Understands and supports KUVO’s mission statement.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Knowledge of public broadcasting regulations, standards, and practices. Knowledge of music history, including jazz eras, genres, history, personalities, and the Great American Songbook.

Denver News and Production Internships

Rocky Mountain PBS offers a hands-on internship program in local television production and is looking for applicants for the next school semester. Multiple internships are offered within the Content Department each academic semester. Students will have the opportunity to join content production teams as they work on a variety of long-form television productions including on-location video production. Our interns have gone on to work at The Denver Post, The Colorado Film Commission, KODE-TV, Mr. Robot, and FOX31.

  • Preference given to currently enrolled college-level students studying communications, journalism, video production and/or film production. Course credit is preferred.

Colorado Springs Production Internships
Production interns in Colorado Springs will work directly with Producer/Director Kate Perdoni to perform various functions of two in-house statewide television programs: Arts District and Colorado Experience. 
 
Arts District is a weekly arts and cultural program including local and national content, and Colorado Experience is an episodic historic overview of the state. Interns working on these programs will have the opportunity to observe, assist and will work directly with all aspects of local production, content development, and the requirements needed to meet weekly deadlines. Interns will have a unique opportunity to work with a team of broadcast journalists who are passionate about sharing compelling arts and cultural stories with our Rocky Mountain region.
