Why do I get a different audio over the television picture? How do I get rid of it?
It sounds like what you are experiencing is a secondary audio program or SAP which comes through your television set. It is a feature designed to provide audio program descriptions for viewers who are visually impaired.
If you use a remote control with your television, you need to go into MENU and look for the SAP/MONO or AUDIO feature. This feature needs to be turned OFF.
If you use a VCR with your set, you may need to use the VCR remote to deactivate the SAP function.
Your original television owner's manual should also have information regarding the SAP feature built into your set.
Should you have any more questions please call 303-620-5741.
Comcast Digital Customers
If that doesn't work you may then want to try this method to restore audio.
We have received a number of calls/complaints from Comcast customers. Comcast has recently implemented a new feature in their set-top boxes (STB's) that allows the subscriber to pick a language to accompany the video program. The problem is that when "default" is selected, it appears to be unpredictable what language is actually heard (English, Spanish, etc.). Others have reported hearing the SAP (Secondary Audio Program) for visually impaired individuals instead of the normal audio that goes with the program.
To restore normal audio please do the following:
1. – On your hand held remote press the Menu button
2. – From the on-screen display select Set-up
3. – Next select Audio Setup
4. – Finally select language (channel default) as the default audio track.
I hope this works for you and we're sorry that your programs were disrupted. We appreciate your interest in Rocky Mountain PBS.
