Independent Lens: Liminted Partnership
Wednesday July 1 at 2:30 pm Mountain Time.
To mark the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent decision legalizing same-sex marriage in all 50 states, we’re pleased to offer this special encore online screening Wednesday, July 1 at 2:30 pm Mountain Time
Decades before The Defense of Marriage Act and Proposition 8, one gay couple, a Filipino American and an Australian, fell in love and over the course of 40 years took on the U.S. government to fight for marriage and immigration equality. The documentary Limited Partnership tells their story, which took place, largely, right here in Colorado.
The film features Coloradan Clela Rorex, who, as the newly elected Boulder County Clerk in 1975, issued this couple the first same-sex marriage license in the United States. Hear some of Clela’s story in her own words >>
