"A Case of MisTaken Identity?" chronicles one man's search for the father he never knew. The documentary, based on Joseph Jacoby's touching memoir, Boy on a String: From Cast-Off Kid to Filmmaker Through the Magic of Dreams, follows the filmmaker's personal quest to solve a decades-old family mystery. The process of discovery takes many twists and turns and leads Jacoby cross-country in search of his birth father. Jacoby attempts to piece together the truth among first-person accounts and abundant photographic and other circumstantial evidence. His journey eventually yields long-obscured truths, uncovers previously unknown family ties and raises questions about the certainties of DNA science.
