Aretha Franklin: The Queen of Soul
Soul survivor Aretha Franklin is having a very good year. She sang the national anthem at the 2006 Super Bowl in her hometown of Detroit and then won her 17th Grammy, for best traditional R&B performance with "A House Is Not a Home." In tribute to the ever-growing Aretha Franklin phenomenon, "American Masters" will broadcast an encore presentation of the definitive 1988 documentary as part of its 20th anniversary season. What Franklin says in the film still rings true today: "With respect to things that I haven't done, I've got a million songs to sing, and a lot of things that I'd like to do."
