Helen telephones Laura next morning to enquire what happened after she left the party with Mike. Rather than admit to Helen that Mike brought her straight home from the party and left her, Laura allows Helen to think that she and Mike spent the rest of the evening and the night together. By chance Laura and Mike are both invited to lunch that day with Helen and Phil, and discover that they have each given a very different version of the events of the evening before. Having now thoroughly confused Helen and Phil, Laura and Mike decide that they may as well spend the afternoon together.
