America's Home Cooking: Family Favorites
Series Info & Airtimes

America's Home Cooking: Family Favorites Chris Fennimore and Nancy Polinsky are back in the kitchen with another heart-warming special that is bound to get the phones ringing. The program is "Family Favorites" and the recipes are the kind of family treasures that are passed down from generation to generation. These are the dishes that families prepare to mark all their special occasions from holidays and birthdays, to homecomings and reunions. They are the ones our families clamor for, and they connect us to our own past and our cultural heritage. The cookbook is HUGE and includes everything from soups and appetizers to salads, main courses and desserts. The recipes demonstrated on air include: skewers of beef wrapped around flavored breading and morsels of tomato and mozzarella cheese then quickly grilled; a Spanish omelet made with onions and potatoes; light-as-a-feather crepes filled with grated cheese and warmed in a bath of chicken stock; eggplant patties, seasoned and pan fried; a melt-in-your-mouth cheesecake that spares no calorie in the pursuit of velvety satisfaction; an old picnic favorite called "city chicken" that is made with pork and veal; a pudding-like confection made from frozen shredded cassava and coconut milk; and flavorful almond cookies covered in a bonnet of toasted pignoli nuts. Mouths will water and eyes will tear as we cook and share the stores that make all these recipes "Family Favorites."
