The everpresent threat of neighborhood crime has prompted Victor and Margaret to step up security on their Riverbank home...with predictably disastrous consequences. When their brand-new locks and bolts all jam on them they are unable to so much as open the back door without the aid of a crowbar. All of which confronts Victor with a bit of a problem; how to break out of a house that has become inpenetrable than Fort Knox in time for his trip to the European Cup quarter final at Wembly on Thursday night.Meanwhile, Mrs. Warboys has gone off to Blackpool to visit her elder sister, who is still in a state of shock after having her head sawn off by Paul Daniels on stage at Winter Gardens Theatre. Added to which, she soon has good reason to curse the day she went in for a local lottery competition. But events are really turned on their head the the arrival on the scene of red-headed Millicent miles, a window from the local greengorcer's whose designs on Victor are far more animal than vegetable.
