Sage & the Mouse/Sniff The Sage & the Mouse is adapted from the "Panchatantra", the classic book of fables of India, The Sage and the Mouse (English) depicts the story of a helpless mouse who was empowered by a good sage. But the power eventually corrupts his character and nearly leads to a disaster in the forest. Released in 1993, The Sage and the Mouse is a fully animated feature which has been broadcast in both India and the United States and is the winner of many awards at several international film festivals. Winner of the Gold Medal, International Film Festival of New York. Sniff (Bengali; subtitled in English) is adapted from Sukumar Ray's classic poem "Gandhabichar". It is a story of an era when perfume was still an unknown object. So when the minister of the king wore some perfume before the court resumed, he created quite a commotion. Manick Sorcar is credited for accomplishing several firsts with this production. Sniff is the first animation that was created in Bengali language, the first Bengali animation to ever be shown on Indian television and also the very first animation from Sukumar Ray's popular book Abol Tabol.
