Power for the Parkinsons, narrated by Walter Cronkite, premiered on Detroit Public Television on April 1, 2008. Produced by Heritage Productions, Inc., this new documentary tells the story of the coming of electricity to rural America in the 1930s as seen through the experiences of the Bill and Hazel Parkinson family of Warnock, Ohio. This family was featured in the classic Rural Electrification Administration film Power and the Land, which premiered in nearby St. Clairsville on August 31, 1940. This is the family and this is the film that helped electrify the American farm.
